About
The Get There Commute Challenge is a friendly, two-week competition among Oregon businesses to promote greener, more active, and more affordable transportation options, helping our state be an even better place to live, work, and play!
Employees can log their walk, bike, transit, carpool, vanpool, and remote work commute trips to help their workplace climb the leaderboard. First-place workplace networks will be recognized and win a $300 cash prize, delivered to your network manager to spend on participating members of the workplace network.

How to Participate
- Employer contacts fill out the form to participate in the Get There Commute Challenge and let us know the estimated number of employees at your workplace.
- We’ll sort your workplace into one of three commute challenge size categories, based on the number of employees:
- Small: 3-99 employees
- Medium: 100-499 employees
- Large: 500+ employees
- Encourage coworkers and employees to join your network and participate in the Commute Challenge using ready-made materials from our Commute Challenge Employer Promotional Toolkit.
- Employees compete by logging as many walk, bike, transit, carpool, vanpool, and remote work commute trips as they can April 13-26 to help their workplace network win.

Get There Commute Challenge Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Create a Get There Connect account and join your workplace network
- You can join a network when creating a Get There Connect user account or through your existing account profile (click Account on the lefthand menu on desktop or bottom menu in the app, select Networks, click the Join Network button at the bottom of the page, search for and select networks to join).
- Log as many walk, bike, transit, carpool, vanpool, and remote work commute trips as you can April 13-26 to help your workplace network win.
The winning workplace will receive a custom recognition badge for each employee who logged at least one trip and a cash prize delivered to the network manager that can be used toward:
- Raffled gift cards
- Custom swag items
- Workplace celebration
- Or anything else offered by your employer!
A one-way commute trip taken by any mode besides driving alone. Including commuting to/from work by walk, bike, transit/train, carpool, vanpool, electric or kick scooter, or skate and remote work between April 13-26!
Any type of workplace can participate. For example, employers can participate in the Commute Challenge as an entire organization, a specific worksite, or a single department.
Workplaces will be sorted into three challenge size categories based on the number of employees:
- Small: 3-99 employees
- Medium: 100-499 employees
- Large: 500+ employees
The winning employer or workplace from each size category will win a $300 cash prize. The Get There Oregon team will work with network managers on determining how to award employees participating in their network. Prize offerings to participating members may include:
- Gift card raffle
- Custom swag items
- Office celebration
A network is a dedicated group of people (users) in the Get There Connect platform, often created by workplaces. To be eligible to win in the Get There Commute Challenge, the participating networks must have a minimum of three employees/network members actively logging trips and at least one designated network manager. Network managers get access to administration features like the ability to add/remove members, metrics tracking, and more! Learn more about being a network manager here.
You can join a network when creating a Get There Connect user account or through your existing account profile (click Account on the lefthand menu on desktop or bottom menu in the app, select Networks, click the Join Network button at the bottom of the page, search for and select networks to join). If your employer or workplace doesn’t have a network in Get There Connect yet, just fill out the form and one will be created for them to compete in the Get There Commute Challenge.
Log into Get There Connect and click Account on the lefthand menu on desktop or the bottom menu in the app, click on Networks. There you’ll see a list of all networks you’re part of and can search for new ones, too!
No, but the more trips logged, the higher your chances of winning.
You can manually log trips in Get There Connect or record trips as you take them with the Get There Connect app. Find information about how to record trips and other features of the Get There Connect dashboard and app in our Digital Guide.
Yes! To log a remote work “trip”, enter the trip to your office address and how many miles you would have traveled had you commuted to work.
Check the Challenge leaderboard to see where you stand on the number of trips logged and how your network is ranking. The leaderboard is available on the Challenges section of your account by selecting Challenges, then clicking into the Get There Commute Challenge, and selecting the Leaderboard view.
The Challenge leaderboard rankings are based on average trips by total network members. In other words, the more network members that are logging trips, the better you will do. Leaderboards do not factor in the total number of employees at your workplace.
Yes! Employees can log trips made from April 13-26 until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.
