Car Free Day is Sept. 22

Take the pledge today!

Car Free Day is an international event celebrated annually on September 22 to encourage people to get around by methods other than driving alone, and instead use public transportation, walk, bike, scooter, telework, and/or rideshare for a day.

Choosing transportation options other than driving can help you save money on gas and car repairs, improve your health, and help reduce CO2 emissions and impact on the environment.

This year, Get There Oregon is inviting anyone who lives or works in Oregon to pledge to go car free for the day. Whether you’re already car-free or want to try it out for a day, take the pledge below and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a Get There Oregon Commuter Kit, which includes a tote bag, bike lights, ankle band, beanie, and reflective shoelaces. Winners will be notified by the end of September.

Check out our commuter resources for information on biking, walking, transit, carpool, and vanpool.

The 2023 Car Free Day pledge ended on September 22. Check back next year for details on the 2024 pledge!
