What Is the Get There Challenge?
The Get There Challenge is a statewide event that helps people try travel options other than driving alone, such as:
- Walking
- Biking
- Transit
- Carpooling
- Vanpooling
- Teleworking
Log your trips in Get There Connect from October 1-14. Then check the leaderboard to see how you and your network are doing. Each trip you log helps your network and gives you a chance to win prizes.
How to Join
Getting started is easy:
- Create or log in to your free Get There Connect account [link].
- Join a workplace, school, community, or other network. If you do not see your network, fill out this form to request a new one.
- Log trips from October 1-14. Trips count as long as you do not drive alone.
- Win prizes and get recognized!
You do not have to stop driving alone all the time to join. Trips to work, school, errands, appointments, events, or other places can count if you use another way to get there.
How Networks Can Join
Join or create a network for your workplace, school, community, or organization. Everyone in the network can log trips and help the network move up the leaderboard.
Networks can also be recognized for things like most trips, most miles, or most trips by travel type.
Tips for Employers
Employers can help more people take part in the Get There Challenge. It is a simple way to support employee wellness, reduce traffic, and help staff try new ways to travel.
Here are a few easy ways employers can help:
Start Early and Share Often
Share Challenge details before October. Ask employees to create or update their Get There Connect accounts and join the right network. Share the Challenge in newsletters, breakroom screens, staff websites, meetings, and employee emails. We’ve made you a toolkit that makes promotion easy!
Share Travel Options
Not everyone can travel the same way every day. Remind employees that many trips can count, including telework, transit, biking, walking, vanpooling, carpooling, scooting, and more.
Celebrate Participants and Offer Prizes
Give shout-outs to employees and networks who join the Challenge. Small reminders can help keep people going. Prizes are a great way to incentivize your employees and networks to participate—a team lunch, an extra day of PTO, or gift cards are just a few ideas.
Connect It to Workplace Goals
The Challenge can support wellness, team building, and goals to reduce drive-alone trips.
Why Participate?
The Get There Challenge is about more than winning.
It’s an opportunity to:
- Save money.
- Spend less time in traffic.
- Try a new way to travel.
- Support cleaner air.
- Connect with coworkers and neighbors.
It is a chance to see what happens when people across Oregon choose a different way to get there.
